Privacy notice

In short: we only ask for what we need to make your personalised gift and take payment. We never ask children for anything, we don't sell your details, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we are

PersonaliseU is run by PersonaliseU Limited, a company registered in Scotland (company number SC907117, registered office 92 Queensby Road, Glasgow, G69 6PS). We are the "controller" of the personal information described here. You can contact us at meg@personaliseu.com.

What we collect

Details you give us to personalise a gift. For example a name, an age, interests, a pet, a place, a short message, and sometimes a voice recording, photo or other material you choose to share. These may be about your child or another person you are buying for. Please only share what you are comfortable with, and avoid surnames, home addresses, phone numbers and anything private.
Your contact and order details. Your email address (collected by our payment provider at checkout), what you ordered, the amount, the date, and the personalised item we made.
A hashed record of your connection, used only to stop one person using the service in very large numbers in a day. We do not keep your full address.
Messages you send us, if you email us.

We do not ask children for information. Our order forms are for parents, guardians and adults, and where a child is involved you confirm you are responsible for them and happy to share the details.

How we use it

To make and deliver your personalised gift (our contract with you).
To take payment and keep records of orders, which we need for our accounts and the law.
To email you your order and reply to your questions.
To keep the service safe, prevent misuse and control costs.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or use it to make decisions about you.

Who we share it with

We use trusted services to run PersonaliseU. They only handle your information to provide that service:

Stripe takes payments. We never see or store your card details.
Netlify hosts our website and stores orders and the items we make.
An AI service from Anthropic, reached through Netlify, helps write personalised text. The details you entered are sent to it so it can write your item, and we ask it to use only what you gave us.
Resend sends our emails.
Google Fonts supplies the typeface on some of our pages, so your browser contacts Google when you visit them.

Some products may need other services, for example to create audio or video. We will name them on that product's page and update this notice before we use them.

Some of these companies are based outside the UK, including in the USA and the EU. Where that happens, they rely on approved safeguards for international transfers.

How long we keep it

We keep what we made for you in your private library, so you can open it again, until you ask us to delete it. We keep order records for as long as the law requires for our accounts. To have your items and the details you gave us deleted, email meg@personaliseu.com and we will do it.

Keeping it safe

Links to your private library are hard to guess, so please only share them with people you trust. Payments are handled by Stripe. Access to our systems is limited to the people who run PersonaliseU and the services above.

Cookies

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies on its payment pages.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see the information we hold, correct it, delete it, or object to how we use it. Email meg@personaliseu.com and we will reply within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this notice, we will update the date at the top.
